THANK YOU!!! To all who supported the 4th Annual Agape Foundation Peace Prize Ceremony on September 18, 2008.
Once again, Agape recognized and thanked the people who are working hard to create a better world for us all. We are amazed by and proud of our donors’ commitment to peace and social justice.
- More than 175 people filled the beautiful Green Room to honor and celebrate local community peacemakers.
- Fifty-four individuals and organizations sponsored the event. (Four more than last year!)
- The event raised more than $43,000 from sponsorships, donations and ticket sales - $10,000 more than last year!
- Both prize winners received $1,000 each. The two finalists for the Rising Peacemakers received $250 each.
Madeline Duckles, 92, received the Enduring Visionary Prize for her sustained effort to create peace nationally and internationally.
Elizabeth Sy, 26, received the Rising Peacemaker Prize for her efforts as the founder of Banteay Srei, an organization empowering young Southeast Asian women who are at risk of or engaged in sex work.
Thank you again for making it possible for us to give these two peacemakers the attention they so deserve.
